TLC’s “Overhaulin’” Hero, Chip Foose, Highlights 54 Years of Hot Rod Historia will be taking over the Oregon Convention Center April 16-18, 2010. The Portland Roadster Show has become one of the country’s longest running celebrations of the Hot Rod craze with over 300 of the nation’s hottest and wildest roadsters, rods, customs, trucks, resto rods and show bikes represented. Over one hundred of the entries have never been seen by the public.

MEET CHIP FOOSE - All 3 days!
If seeing the Oregon Convention Center filled with all the flames, chrome, blowers and candy apple paint jobs a rodder-at-heart can handle, the current “King” of customs Chip Foose will be meeting his vast fan base and signing autographs at the show Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Foose, presented by B.A.S.F., will be surrounded by some of his latest design creations. He is internationally considered the “face” of the custom automotive world. His flawless and groundbreaking automotive designs, along with his Overhaulin' TV series on TLC have catapulted him to megastar status. Chip Foose will be available for autographs Friday: 4pm to 6pm, Saturday 3pm to 5pm and Sunday: 11am to 1pm / 3pm to 5pm.

Many regionally famous builders will be joining Foose at this year’s show. Displaying their latest creations will be Oregon’s own Steve Frisbie (shown >), Tualatin Auto Body/So-Cal Northwest, Bill Hall, Darryl Schroeder, Mike Scheele, Holton Secret Lab and more. Each are nationally known for their outstanding achievements in the custom automotive industry. SEE THE WORLD FAMOUS "ROSWELL ROD"
At the Portland Roadster Show, the cars are truly the stars. Among the hundreds of automotive works of art will be Fritz Schenck’s, world famous Roswell Rod. This ride is not only a restored survivor of the wild creations of the early days of rodding, but a genuine trip down memory lane. This out-of-this-world bubble-top creation is a tribute to the late-great Ed Roth. A must-see for fans of the creative boundaries of the hobby.

Also in automotive attendance, a wide selection of contenders from the 2009 Ridler Award. The Ridler is considered the nation’s most prestigious honor for custom automotive creations. Many of these one-of-a-kind cars competing for the Ridler are worth well over $500,000 - with some over $1,000,000. Don't miss this opportunity to see these centerfold customs in real life! Many have never been shown in this region of the United States.

Meet American Graffiti’s Candy Clark and “The Wolfman”
Both will be signing autographs and sharing stories about their individual claims to fame in the entertainment and hot rodding community.
Candy Clark is best known for her role as Debbie Dunham in the 1973 hit film American Graffiti, which garnered her an Academy Award nomination as Best Supporting Actress. Her other well-known films are The Man Who Fell to Earth (1976), The Big Sleep (1978), Blue Thunder (1983), Cat's Eye (1985) and At Close Range (1986). "The Wolfman" is the nation's best known tribute to Wolfman Jack. He'll be broadcasting throughout the show. You'll swear it's the "real deal, baby".

SCALE MODEL CAR SHOW
Within the show is “the biggest little car show within a car show”. The Portland Roadster Show will be featuring one of the nation’s oldest model car events. Builders from all along the West Coast will be displaying their hand-made models and competing for trophies and the opportunity to be called the ‘Best Of The Best’. Be sure to really take a close look at each little ride on display; The realistic detail and imagination involved in the scaled down versions of vehicles are truly amazing. Hosted by SABA (Scale Auto Builders Assoc). And yes, the car to the right is a 1/24 scale model!

JOINT VENTURE - Freightliner Salt Flat Drag Truck
The Joint Venture team races this '97 Freightliner in Unlimited Diesel Truck, using a 16V-92 two-stroke diesel engine from a tugboat. It's a V-16 with 1,472 ci with two superchargers and four 90mm turbos plus marine intercoolers and water injection to produce 3,500-4,000 hp at 3,500 rpm. The truck weighs 20,000 pounds and holds Bonneville Salt Flat's 228-mph modified diesel truck record.
